In the Heat of the Night
"They call me Mr. Tibbs". This 1967 movie won 5 Academy Awards, one of which went to Rod Steiger for best actor. Steiger plays a racist police chief in a small Mississippi town and Sidney Poitier is a distinguished police detective from Philadelphia who is passing through the town and initially finds himself being a suspect in a murder. They end up working together to solve the murder and eventually gain respect for each other.
