The Red Tent. A gorgeous book with an incredible story about Dinah, a minor character in the bible. Beautifully written, a rare book that gripped me tight and left me with the feeling that I've learned something about a time and place of which I knew little.
I tried to read this when I was younger and I couldn't get through it. But I'm hearing more and more about how it's a must-read, so I'll have to give it another go!
You won't regret it, Allyson! At least I don't think. Let me know when you get through it.:)
I will let you know! I recently fell head over heels for Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale," which hits on similarly biblical scenes and made me think about how important it is to tell the stories of historically silenced voices. So, I'm willing to give this one another try!
Ah, A Handmaid's Tale might as well be another post of mine in this bead. I think I've read that 3 or 4 times yet it sits with me for days, even weeks, every time. So haunting.
